# Privacy

This site collects as little as it can. This page says what we collect, why, where it goes, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not run advertising.

## Who we are

Perséides is a product company in Canada. This policy covers the website perseides.ai and its French mirror. It does not cover Nagano, Switchboard or Cosmo themselves, which have their own notes on what runs where.

## What we collect and why

### The contact form

When you write to us we receive your name, your email address, the subject and the message you typed, plus the product you chose if you chose one and the language you were reading in. We use them to answer you. They are sent to us by email through Postmark and kept in our mailbox as correspondence. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the form was submitted by a person, not a script; it looks at signals from your browser to do so and does not show you a puzzle unless it has to. Turnstile’s own handling of that data is described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

### Analytics

We use Plausible, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. It records the page, the referrer, your country and the type of browser and device, and it truncates your IP address so it is not stored. It cannot follow you across sites. Plausible’s own policy explains how it handles this.

### Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare records requests, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the service running. Downloads of our apps go through the same infrastructure.

### One cookie, for your language

When you switch between English and French, the site sets one first-party cookie, `perseides_locale`, which holds `en` or `fr` and nothing else. Your browser sends it back with each request to perseides.ai, so the site opens in the language you chose instead of guessing from your browser’s settings. It lasts one year, is read only by this site, and is not used to track you or to count visits. You can delete it in your browser at any time; the site then goes back to guessing.

### Nothing else

There are no accounts, no newsletter, no advertising pixels and no third-party cookies on this site. The site follows your device’s light or dark setting and stores nothing for it.

## Where the information goes

Messages from the contact form are delivered through Postmark and read by us. Site traffic is handled by Cloudflare and counted by Plausible. Those three companies process data on our behalf and are bound by their own terms; some of it is processed outside Quebec and outside Canada. We share personal information with nobody else, unless the law requires it.

## How long we keep it

Contact messages are kept as long as they are useful to answer you and to remember the conversation, and are deleted after \[period\]. Analytics are aggregated counts with no personal information in them. Cloudflare’s request logs are kept according to Cloudflare’s retention periods.

## Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw your consent to our using it. Write to [hello@perseides.ai](mailto:hello@perseides.ai) and we will answer within thirty days. If you think we have not handled your information properly, you can complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

## If something goes wrong

If personal information we hold is lost, accessed or used without authorization and there is a risk of serious harm, we will tell the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people concerned, as the law requires, and keep a record of the incident.

## Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and refresh the date at the top.
